2016 Bacigalupi Zinfandel
Helen and Charles Bacigalupi started farming their precious old vine grapes in the Russian River Valley in 1956. The Bacigalupis were about 50 years ahead of the sustainable agriculture movement, avoiding chemicals and tilling and then training vines as high as four feet above the ground to improve air circulation. Zin from this vineyard is rare, natural and absolutely perfect. We think you’ll agree.
We really didn't think this Zin could get any better, then we tasted the 2016 vintage. Glamorously scarlet in color, this baby effuses super ripe raspberry, blackberry and red licorice notes. It’s bright, yet smooth, across the palate with an array of tart cherries, cranberry and cinnamon. Luscious, but balanced, this graceful Zin ends with a long-lingering finish.
