2017 Bacigalupi Zinfandel
Helen and Charles Bacigalupi started farming their precious old vine grapes in the Russian River Valley in 1956. The Bacigalupis were about 50 years ahead of the sustainable agriculture movement, avoiding chemicals and tilling and then training vines as high as four feet above the ground to improve air circulation. Zin from this vineyard is rare, natural, and absolutely perfect. We think you’ll agree.
Nose: Blue and black fruits on the nose immediately grab your attention as layers of complexity are added by hints of citrus pith scattered with clove and allspice.
Palate: Flavors of blackberry, boysenberry, and blueberry take the lead while graciously transitioning to notes of juicy pomegranate and cherry. Lively acidity freshens up this wine and carries the finish with a wonderful earthy minerality.
