2019 Bacigalupi Zinfandel – Russian River Valley
Helen and Charles Bacigalupi started farming their precious old vine grapes in the Russian River Valley in 1956. The Bacigalupis were about 50 years ahead of the sustainable agriculture movement, avoiding chemicals and tilling and then training vines as high as four feet above the ground to improve air circulation. Zin from this vineyard is rare, natural, and absolutely perfect.
The 2019 Bacigalupi Zinfandel is an excellent representation of the concentrated fruit sourced from the Russian River Valley AVA.
Nose: A beautiful harmony of rhubarb, raspberry, and licorice with a depth that shows off lingering earth notes of potting soil and rock. There is also a herbal aspect of baking spices, vanilla, and clove, adding to the beautiful complexity of the wine.
Palate: Ideal for wine lovers who prefer a bit more body to their Zinfandel. You'll taste a structured wine that expresses intense notes of preserves, baking spices, and juicy red fruit.
Pairings: The tart concentration of this Zinfandel makes for an ideal pairing with soft cheeses.
