2011 St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon, Doc Gold Vineyard

David (Doc) Gold is our local vet, a gentle giant of a man and the first guy you ring up when one of your beloved animals is in need of top quality care. He also just happens to own one of the sweetest 2.5-acre Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in all of Napa Valley, with rocky subsoil that allows moisture to drain like a hillside vineyard. We are tremendously grateful to showcase this wonderfully ripe and structured fruit in its purest single-vineyard form.

A fantastic nose of raspberries, cigar box, bay leaves and licorice leads to juicy pomegranate flavors, pencil shavings, earth and spice. Tannins are very well integrated, soft, but still powerful. The mid-palate shows incredible depth and complexity with a long, smooth finish. Match up against a classic ribeye steak and enjoy.
