Evangelho Mataro Double Vintage Case
Old growers called it Mataro, but it's probably better known as Mourvèdre these days. The berries are small, with thick skins, producing wines with elegant flavors, pronounced color, and fine-grained tannins.
This mixed case includes:
2015 Evangelho Mataro (6 bottles): The nose is full of dried violet and tart black raspberry aromas. It's both bright and very mineral on the palate, where boysenberry and black-plum-skin flavors meet with white pepper and lavender touches. The very expressive concentration of fruit is juxtaposed by brilliant acidity, making it an ideal pairing for poultry or pork, or soft stinky cheeses.
2016 Evangelho Mataro (6 bottles): Delight in a nose of black fruits, dark coffee hints of scotch. This vintage is also bright and mineral on the palate, but with notes of raspberry sorbet and green forest flavors. On the finish, you'll find hints of espresso and violet petals. A favorite to pair with any Italian dish.
